Symphony & Art

  • Moscow Contemporary 2012 W Pullman Rd Moscow, ID 83843 United States (map)

What happens when you put orchestra musicians inside a living, evolving art installation? We're about to find out.

Symphony & Art brings Washington Idaho Symphony musicians into Moscow Contemporary for an evening where live chamber music and visual art don't just share a space — they share a conversation. Guests will hear intimate ensemble performances performed among the work of artist Corrie Befort.

The backdrop is Loess, Befort's large-scale sculptural installation currently on view through May 30th. Commissioned by Moscow Contemporary through the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Loess is a reimagining of the Palouse landscape — its shapes, textures, and rhythms rendered in an ever-changing textile environment. Befort is an inter-media artist and choreographer whose work translates the physical world into performance, objects, and immersive installations. Her presence in the gallery makes Loess feel alive, and it's a remarkable setting for live music.

While you take in the music and the installation, enjoy wine, coffee, tea, and light refreshments in a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. This is an evening designed for exploring — moving through the gallery, experiencing the art up close, and connecting with fellow music and art lovers in the community.

Symphony & Art is part of our ongoing Symphony & series, which pairs live WIS performances with local arts, artisans, and unique venues around the region. Each event is a one-of-a-kind experience, and this one is especially not to be missed.
