IDAHO NORTH REGION MEMBER’S SHOW

The Idaho Watercolor Society has 258 members Statewide with the majority of members residing in the Southwest Region.  There are five smaller regions across Idaho with varying membership from 12-40 artists.  The North Region, encompassing the northern part of the state from Brown’s Ferry to Grangeville, has14 members with a considerable amount of talent among them.  Of the 10 artists participating in the show, two are IWS distinguished members, and four are IWS merit members. Some have signature status in well-respected organizations such as the American Watercolor Society, the Northwest Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society and more.  Each year, the North Region members exhibit at the same time the Idaho Watercolor Society’s traveling show arrives in the North Region.  The traveling show is comprised of the top award-winning paintings from the IWS annual members’ juried exhibition.  The traveling show will be showcased at the 1912 Center in Moscow.

Here are some interesting art facts about a few of the artists participating in the upcoming IWS North Region show:

  • Jessica Bryant, residing in Coeur d’Alene, is a young rising star.  She is a signature member of multiple watercolor societies and the recipient of numerous awards for her work.  Her art has been featured on the cover, and within magazines such as Southwest Art Magazine, Plein Air Magazine, Art Chowder Magazine, Watercolor Artist Magazine, SPLASH, The Best of Watercolor 25 (currently on newsstands), and many others.  This year she had paintings accepted into the 156th Annual International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society (New York), the Signature American Watermedia International Exhibition (California), and her painting Autumn on the Little North Fork was chosen as a finalist in the Richeson75 International Art Competition.  In May of this year her solo exhibition titled “Chasing Currents,” was featured at the Coeur d’Alene Gallery.

  • Jackie Zumalt, a Grangeville resident, is a Signature Member of the Northwest Watercolor Society.  She has participated and won awards in local, regional, national and international art shows.  In 2020, her painting Daylight Reveler was accepted into the 2020 Western Federation of Watercolor Societies exhibit juried by Stephen Quiller; she was one of 100 artists accepted from over 1,000 entries.

  • Priscilla Patterson, living in Post Falls, one of the North Region’s newer members, is an award-winning Artist Fellow member of the American Society of Aviation Artists as well as in numerous other art societies.  Priscilla received a certificate of Composite Drawing for Law Enforcement and has used her artistic talent on many occasions in service to law enforcement of the Pacific Northwest.

  • Judy Mousseau, a Lewiston resident, has received numerous awards for her art and is a member of multiple art societies.  In 2012 she painted the portrait of Moscow’s Mayor Nancy Chaney that is now part of the City’s Art Collection.
